Which Self Photo Studios Are Closest to Your MRT Line

Published 19 October 2026 · By the Self Photo Studio Singapore team · Booking & logistics

At a glance: Almost every self photo studio in Singapore sits inside a mall within five minutes of an MRT station. The North-South and East-West lines cover the most, the Downtown Line covers Bugis and Chinatown, and the Circle Line is the weakest for studios.

Self photo studios cluster in malls, and Singapore malls cluster on MRT stations, which makes the network a surprisingly good way to plan a session - particularly for a group coming from different parts of the island.

Here is how the studio scene maps onto the lines.

North-South Line (Red)

The strongest single line for studios, because it runs through Orchard and the city.

Orchard is the densest cluster on the island - Orchard Central and Orchard Gateway both host studios, and the walk between them is a few minutes underground. See self photo studios in Orchard.

City Hall puts you a short walk from Funan, which mixes booth-style and room-style setups - City Hall and Funan studios.

Further north, Ang Mo Kio and Yishun have occasional heartland studios, though the selection is thinner and turnover is higher.

East-West Line (Green)

Best for anyone not heading into town.

Bugis is the youth-culture hub, with Bugis Junction and Bugis+ both in play and weekend queues to match - studios in Bugis.

Tampines is the East's anchor, with Tampines One and Tampines Mall within one walkway of each other - studios in Tampines.

Jurong East covers the West through the JEM, Westgate and IMM cluster - studios in Jurong East. It is the most convenient stop outside the central belt.

Downtown and North East Lines

The Downtown Line interchanges at Bugis and Chinatown, which makes it useful rather than destination-rich in its own right. Chinatown studios sit among the shophouses around People's Park and Chinatown Point.

The North East Line gives you Chinatown, Dhoby Ghaut for Orchard, and Serangoon for NEX. Little India is on this line too, and while dedicated self photo studios there are limited, it is the natural pairing for a festival-season shoot.

Tanjong Pagar on the East-West line deserves a mention of its own for its Korean-town character - studios sit between Korean restaurants, which makes for an easy date-day itinerary. See Tanjong Pagar studios.

Planning a Group Meet-Up

For a group arriving from different directions, an interchange is almost always the right choice. Bugis (EW/DT), City Hall (NS/EW), Dhoby Ghaut (NS/NE/CC) and Jurong East (NS/EW) all put a studio within a short walk while minimising anyone's travel.

Two practical notes. Mall studios follow mall hours, so last slots are typically around 9 to 10pm. And weekend afternoon slots at Orchard and Bugis are the first to go - if the group is flexible, a weekday evening at an interchange is easier and often cheaper.

Frequently asked questions

Which MRT stop has the most self photo studios?

Orchard, by a clear margin, thanks to the Orchard Central and Orchard Gateway cluster. Bugis is second and busier at weekends.

Are heartland studios cheaper than town ones?

Often by a few dollars for a comparable session. The bigger difference is availability - heartland studios are far easier to book at short notice.

Do any studios open late?

Mall-based studios close with the mall, usually 9-10pm. A few standalone shophouse studios run later; check before planning an evening session.
